Adding link to MSN icon?

Hello,

When I try to add a link to my MSN status icon, it doesnt seem to be doing anything. Here is the code that I am using (with brackets instead of < and >):

When I click on the icon, all I hear is an alert sound - the same sound you hear when you get the yellow-bar at the top of an IE window (popup, activex warning). My messenger application isnt launched, like it is when I use a yahoo or google talk link.

Is there a way to format your link so that clicking the icon will launch a messenger window?
